Amy Waldhauer The first track reminds me of David Tudor. I recently saw a video of him playing "Bandoneon!" and this has the same feel.

"Reservoir Transect" is much more representational. At one point I just get lost in the sound of the footsteps.

Both pieces are fascinating. Bravo!

about

i had been intending on doing a small series like this for a while now. here it is.

the first one of these, 'field studies no.1' was originally included in an as-of-now unreleased collection of songs, but was quickly rejected. it is a conglomeration of processed found sounds, blown-out tape recordings, and other little loops.

the second track, 'reservoir transect' was the result of listening back to a tape-recorded sound walk on a 4 track and simultaneously playing the other side of the tape, in reverse. the reverse side of the tape had some drone ideas I was toying with about a year ago and lost track of, which melded well with the sounds of the city at night.

the first track is much more intentional and organized while the second is almost completely incidental.
